'The Third Man' might have starred Jimmy Stewart & Cary Grant

That . . . pretty much blows my mind. I mean, I adore those two (see icon), but can you really see them chasing each other through the sewers??

Interesting! I had no idea!

Wow! Just...wow. As a post-war thing I can see both of them in it. They were excellent actors and could convey an edge in their performance. And I loved their chemistry together, and they were friends. I would have been most excited about this project.

I wonder if Jimmy liked zither music! We know he loved the accordion, after all. :-)

I think he would have been a very good Holly Martins, but it's hard for me to picture Cary Grant as Harry Lime. He could go dark, like in "Notorious" or "Suspicion," but this one would have required him to go much darker than he ever had before. It is fascinating to think about whether he could have pulled it off!

I know Jimmy loved music but I don't know about zither in particular. Wouldn't it be fun if he did!

I think acting-wise Cary would have been able to do it. But I'm not sure if he would have taken the risk to go this far from his self-created Cary Grant persona.

I hope you don't mind if I put a post together for Jimmy Daily about this.
