And then I curled up and died

I was trying to figure out the significance of the rather random dance number on Bunheads tonight, so I went searching on Tumblr. And that, God help me, is how I found out that there are people shipping two of the young girls on the show.

PEOPLE. THEY ARE MINORS. STOP IT. JUST STOP IT.

For the love of heaven, has no one ever heard of the concept of "friendship"??? Does EVERYTHING have to be sexual?

Completely true. And people called those who predicted such things "paranoid" and "hateful" when they predicted the results of continuing to push the abnormal into the normal box...

Don't get me started on the Narnia fandom. Trying to read anything about that series that isn't specifically recommended makes me want to vomit.

Oh, I wouldn't touch Narnia online fandom with a 10-foot pole! It's bad enough what they've done to Tolkien!

Agreed. I still remember being horrified as a teenager who had just fallen in love with Tolkien's extended mythos when I read my first man/elf slash.

Blech.

I am glad both Tolkien and Lewis died long before the internet. They'd be horrified if they could see what's been done to their beautiful creations! Not that this stuff didn't exist before the internet, but at least it wasn't right there for anyone and everyone to see, 24/7.

I'm guessing in times past, people also had a bit of shame. Perversions of all kinds have always existed and always will. But it seems people used to be a bit more embarrassed about it. Now? Now they're proud of it. And woe be unto you if you dare disagree.
