Weird thoughts about the Diamond Jubilee

The queen seems like a pretty classy lady (especially when compared to some of the sicko members of her family), and I'm happy for her and all, but . . . considering how you get that job, isn't celebrating it a tiny bit strange? Like "Woohoo, happy 60th anniversary of your father's death!"

Sounds like kind of a drag, if you ask me. But then I'm not royalty. Maybe they think about these things differently.

Well, at least it's all a good excuse for me to re-watch The King's Speech!

As far as I've heard, she tends to keep to herself on Accession Day, since she loved her father so much. If I remember correctly, the fact that this was the official kickoff to the Jubilee celebrations was the only reason why she even put in an appearance or two this year at all.

I'm sure that's another reason in favor of moving Jubilee festivities like this: warm weather (though today certainly didn't look like it) and a chance to separate the celebrations from a more melancholy day.

Oh, does she? That's sweet. (See, there's an awful lot I don't even know about her!)
