Weird thoughts about the Diamond Jubilee

The queen seems like a pretty classy lady (especially when compared to some of the sicko members of her family), and I'm happy for her and all, but . . . considering how you get that job, isn't celebrating it a tiny bit strange? Like "Woohoo, happy 60th anniversary of your father's death!"
Sounds like kind of a drag, if you ask me. But then I'm not royalty. Maybe they think about these things differently.
Well, at least it's all a good excuse for me to re-watch The King's Speech!

Date: 2012-06-04 02:04 am (UTC)I'm sure that's another reason in favor of moving Jubilee festivities like this: warm weather (though today certainly didn't look like it) and a chance to separate the celebrations from a more melancholy day.
