And I dare to call myself an English major

All the talk about The Hunting of the Snark on tonight's Inspector Lewis made me want to reread it. Then I remembered I've never actually read it.

What on earth is a snark and how does one hunt it?!

Wow.

After crossing the sea guided by the Bellman's map of the Ocean—a blank sheet of paper—

This makes perfect sense to me. It is water, after all. It's not like there can be roads or buildings, mountains or forests to mark on a map.

You would probably make a very good reader of this poem. You have the kind of logical mind that could pick up things that a lot of us flighty and scatterbrained lit geeks might miss!

Ha! I think it would drive me insane for trying to figure it out logically!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

*pulls hair*

I'm kinda glad not to be an English major. As an engineer, I can pretend to be illiterate, since that's what everyone expects anyway. ;)

I wish I'd seen the show. I actually did read The Hunting of the Snark as a teenager, which is probably a good time to do it, but I don't remember much about it. I should read it again. People who are into quantum mechanics apparently love that poem. ;)

Oh, yeah. We can hardly tolerate you being seen in our company. Our AUGUST company. Have you no shame?

(I'll just go elsewhere and pretend I've heard of either the show or the book...)
