Self-talk in the bookstore

"You do not need another copy of A Tale of Two Cities."

"You do not need another copy of A Tale of Two Cities."

"That's not even a particularly interesting copy. It's not illustrated, the introduction isn't anything special, and neither is the binding. Put it down. I said put it down. I said PUT IT DOWN."

"YOU DO NOT NEED ANOTHER COPY, OH MY GOSH PUT IT DOWN RIGHT NOW!"

This is getting to be a regular thing. Scary, no?

I keep doing this with other favorite books/series/authors of mine. Just yesterday I was in Half Price Books and I felt the urge to get yet another copy of A Madness of Angels, although I already own two paperbacks (identical to the HPB one) and a hardcover!

You're like a modern Marianne Dashwood. Take home ALL THE BOOKS! ;)

Husband does that with Tolkien (he's not shown symptoms of major LotR-y nerdiness since he was a kid... now it's just those goshdarned books). Glad to see he's not the only one.

I have this conversation with myself every time I go into a bookstore it seems! I think it's a type of disease...
