I saw it in the window and I just couldn't resist it

Anyone else notice a recent fad where these things that look gold curtain tassels are hanging off necklaces? I actually bought a long necklace that had one of these, because the necklace as a whole was pretty, but I find I cannot bring myself to wear it with that thing on it. I'd look like I had a curtain cord around my neck, and as much as I love The Sound of Music, I really don't want to go around looking like I'm wearing the drapes.

Actually, I'd probably look more like Carol Burnett.

Anyway . . . as it happens, I have my handy little beading pliers and a pair of faux pearl drop earrings that I never wear, so it should be easy enough to swap out the tassel for a pearl pendant.

Then I just have to get used to the idea of wearing a really long necklace. I know they're in, and I like the look of them. I even made one for myself out of crystals and seed beads, which I usually wear doubled. I just keep having the uneasy feeling that because I'm so short, they don't look right on me. Gaudy rings aside, it takes time for a person, especially a small person, to get used to wearing big jewelry.

But I'll probably eventually embrace the trend . . . just as it goes out.
