Book meme, day 3

7. What fictional character are you (secretly) in love with?

As if I've ever been secretive about loving a character in my life! I'm much likelier to climb up to the housetops and yell, "HEAR YE! HEAR YE! THIS CHARACTER IS AWESOME AND YOU SHOULD ALL LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS I DO!"

However . . . I am hopelessly in love with Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities, and I suppose he's the kind of character for whom one might nurse a secret passion, if one were inclined to secrecy. When I called him Dickens's most romantic hero, over at Dickensblog, someone reprovingly commented that he's a drunk. Well, yeah. But there's a little more to him than that . . .

8. The last book you acquired, and how (begged, bought, borrowed)?

Two books arrived last week; I forget which one came first and which one came second. One was Nick of Time by Tim Downs (#6 in the Bug Man series). I got it with a B&N gift card that my grandmother gave me for Easter. The other was The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon. It was a review copy from an editor.

9. Your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next.

Current read: The Reading Promise by Alice Ozma.
Last read: Havah: The Story of Eve by Tosca Lee. Brilliantly written. I'm glad I listened to the dozens of people who recommended it to me.
Next read: The Story of Beautiful Girl, mentioned above.

(This is not counting the longer books that I have going in the background!)

I'm totally going to do this meme.

When I saw "Character you're (secretly) in love with" I giggled. (I'd have a long list...)

Goody! Looking forward to your answers!

Sooo, you decided to do it after all! Love how you call it 'massively long book meme' in your tags!

Interesting to see you like Havah by Tosca Lee. I've seen the book advertised and lying in the Christian bookstore, but I'm always a bit wary over Biblical historical books and need a recommendation from someone I know before I'll pick them up.

I had read Lee's book "Demon" before this, so I knew I liked her writing. She really did a great job with this one.

I'm going to check out Havah. I need new books to read!

I've heard a lot about Havah, I think I may have to visit the library and check it out. :)

Sydney Carton is amazing!

When I called him Dickens's most romantic hero, over at Dickensblog, someone reprovingly commented that he's a drunk.

Because there has NEVER been an inordinately, inappropriately high number of attractive drunks in the fictional world.

It's very fun reding your memes. I'm going to add Havah to my read list and maybe get to it in a few months years.

I think I'm going to do this too, it's a really good one!
