There's a new book out with
C. S. Lewis's translation of the Aeneid
, or at least the parts that he got around to translating. Intriguing!

That is the only way anyone could ever talk me into reading the Aeneid again.
Pious Aeneas just makes me want to barf. :-P

I remember exceedingly little of it, to be honest. We had to read bits of it in ninth-grade Latin, and I spent most of the time wondering why someone with a pretty name like Elissa would choose to call herself Dido!

Haha! I've read the whole thing in English multiple times, and then read some chapters in Latin. Aeneas is just a loser. that is all.
I never thought about the Elissa thing, but now that you said it, I heartily agree!
Also, I have wondered why John Dryden would change a perfectly good name like Anna to Belinda:
