Credit where credit is due

It seems Richard Wagner had a bicentennial last week, which I didn't notice. As I'm not a fan of Wagner, I can't say this bothers me much. However, the man left one important legacy -- without him, we wouldn't have one of the greatest cartoons of all time.

So thanks, Herr Wagner!

Oh, goodness, that brought back memories! The kids had it on some months ago. I hadn't seen it since I was probably a kid myself.

And don't tell anyone,but... I was *well* into adulthood before I learned this was a real opera. I still freak out when I hear it announced on the classical station.
