Follow-up to 'Random spoilery Star Wars thoughts' (also spoilery)

I have revised my opinion slightly. I'm okay with Kylo Ren being redeemed, but only -- ONLY -- because his father wanted it. If not for that, I'd happily see the little weasel given the full Dante's Inferno.

Is that the actual plot line? Or are you just speculating?

Just speculating. No one but Abrams & co. knows the actual plot line yet, to the best of my knowledge.

Aha. Well, at this point, I can't work up the energy to care what happens to him. Maybe if there are flashbacks and history given about him and the fallout with his parents, maybe I'd care. Maybe.

At this point, I just don't.

And then I was watching A New Hope online and it turned out to be that tweaked version with Greedo shooting Han. Ugh! HAN SHOT FIRST!

Now I'm not sure the VHS copies I have are the originals. I can't even watch them to check because I no longer have a VHS player. Or a working TV.

*twitch*

I wonder if it's possible to get these converted to DVD? Or do they not do that with commercial movies, only your own movies that you filmed yourself? I have no idea.

No video business will touch that stuff because of the threat of copyright enforcement. If you wished to do it yourself, then with a VHS player with analog outputs, and a converter like this (http://amzn.com/B000VM60I8), you could transfer the video to your PC.

Yeah, I figured that after thinking it through. Bah, humbug!

Thanks.

There's a guide here to the various VHS editions -- maybe that will help you figure out what you've got!

Oh, thanks. It really is confusing!

Um, well, II'm almost sorry I read your previous post, though you certainly did warn me! It strikes me that J.J. Abrams is very bad at having original ideas and very good at repackaging classics. Not always so good (based on what he did to my beloved "Star Trek" ) at understanding what made a classic a classic in the first place.

But I am going to see this anyway, and I think now that I'll probably cry. I love Han. He should definitely get whatever he wants, up to and including his son's redemption.

But. But, but, but. What happened to his and Leia's kids? Where are Jaina and Jacen and Anakin Solo? Or was this Kylo Ren Anakin in a previous life?

I don't think I realized how much I loved Han until now! He was so great in this one.

I think you're talking about EU characters,no? They didn't make it into this movie. Sounds like I've already revealed more than you wanted to know, I'm afraid, so perhaps I'd better not say any more. But I'll be interested to hear what you think of the movie!

Heh, good point. But then, he did always want to be *just* like his Grandpa . . . and his Grandpa did get a space version of Dante's Inferno in the prequel movies . . .
