That's an excellent question. Dickens has a lot of iconic moments and characters. I believe it was G. K. Chesterton who said Dickens was more of a mythologist than a novelist. "Oliver Twist" is indeed a very good example -- perhaps the best example. "A Tale of Two Cities" is another, especially its famous opening and closing lines, even though it's not exactly a representative work for Dickens. I would also include "Great Expectations" -- Miss Havisham in particular is very iconic. Also "A Christmas Carol," with Scrooge and Tiny Tim ("God bless us, every one!" and so forth). "The Old Curiosity Shop," with the death of Little Nell, was considered iconic at one time, but not so much anymore, I think, as the novel has become one of his lesser-read works. "David Copperfield," maybe a little.
