For a while I've suspected something, and now I'm almost certain of it: I no longer have the attention span, the mental energy, or the interest to follow a TV series. Over the past few years I've had friends try to get me into "Foyle's War," "Call the Midwife," "Endeavour," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," and I don't know how many more. Usually I'll give it a try, enjoy a few episodes, realize I don't care whether I ever find out what happens, and drift away.

Dr Who quiz

. . . but I would LOVE this.

Hugh

For one thing, when he said "I'm the Doctor!" it would have AN EXTRA LEVEL of meaning!

After all the Doctor Who episodes that have scared the living daylights out of me, how odd that the one that was trying really hard to scare me ("Hide") couldn't do it. Oh, I jumped a little when "Romeo" (heh) growled at the door, or got in the Doctor's face that one time, but that was about it. Maybe it's because I watched it in broad daylight, or because I've finally seen all the ghost-story tropes enough times to be used to them, or even because I found Jessica Raine as Emma a little less than convincing.

Or maybe this show has finally toughened me up at last! And they said it couldn't be done.

ETA: . . . Or maybe not, because those Gollum things in the new episode just scared the ever-living CRAP out of me.

Look here, f-list. You know I frighten easily. You KNOW I don't have the courage God gave a rabbit. So why did you get me watching a show that scares the liver out of me on a regular basis? Seriously, why?

Moffat maligned in major magazine! (That sounds like a newspaper headline in an old movie.) Internet implosion in 3, 2, 1 . . .

Maybe some of you have seen this, but it's new to me. Love it. Only I wish Rowan Atkinson had stayed Rowan Atkinson for a while longer. Hugh Grant holds no charms for me, especially when Edmund Blackadder is around.

I just discovered this British channel I didn't know we had! It's currently running Dr. Who episodes -- commercial-free, too. I think David Tennant has the biggest eyes I'ver seen.

(Yes, this is my first Tennant episode. Nobody faint. I tend to be a little behind sometimes . . . )

Also, it's airing Little Dorrit on Saturday! Whee!

This town is in the grip of RGIII-mania. (That's the Redskins quarterback who was forced to play and injured himself badly in the playoff, for those of you who follow football about as closely as I do.) I was watching the news crawler on the bottom of the screen after Nashville ended, and saw this:

"DOCTOR WHO PERFORMED SURGERY . . ."

There was something more after that, about what the doctor said, but I missed it. I was too busy wondering if he used the sonic screwdriver.

The Doctor Who Christmas special and the Leverage season (possibly series) finale both air on Christmas Day? Really, how is a girl to squeeze in a showing of Les Miserables??

A friend of mine is writing a truly delightful Tenth Doctor/Person of Interest crossover. (Of course Finch met the Doctor as a child. That's exactly the kind of thing that would happen to Finch.) If you're a fan of either, or of both, check it out!

I've got a review of the Christmas Carol episode here. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tempestsarekind for helping me with it!
