Confession

Things that are making me sad:

• Going through old videotapes to decide what to copy to DVD. Looking at all those old shows and movies does something to me. It feels like the person who taped all those things was a completely different person from a different era. A simpler, happier era. Not a perfect one, but a happier one.
• Realizing just how completely I have lost touch with an old friend whom I cared about (and still care about) very deeply, and realizing the loss of all the activities and the fun we used to share.

I labeled this a "confession" because, good Lord, with terrorism and persecution and poverty and so much suffering going on in this world, these things make me sad?? I'm completely ashamed of myself. But I can't help it.
