Fun with genealogy: Royal edition
Jan. 27th, 2015 11:33 pmAs you saw if you're a Facebook friend of mine, I hit a genealogical jackpot!

I'm excited! I love Eleanor. My mom is now going around saying, "No wonder no one could ever tell your grandmother and your great-aunt what to do." :-) Also, we both want to watch The Lion in Winter again.
Also, a later ancestor of mine was a loyal friend and supporter of Mary, Queen of Scots, and refused to convert to Protestantism, whereas his grandson, if W. B. Yeats is to be believed, went around shooting monks. No wonder I'm so ecumenical. I'm probably trying to make up for all the centuries of religious quarrels in my bloodline.
This is all on my mom's side, by the way. I've had the worst luck trying to find anything on my dad's side; I go a few generations back and then I hit a brick wall -- no records or anything. It figures that just when you want Italians to talk, they go all silent on you.
