Harriet Vane in the Lord Peter Wimsey series. We have very different lives and backgrounds, but I connected with her instantly. Her sense of humor, practicality, realism, and resilience all resonate with me. And I think we have a lot -- not all, but a lot -- of the same values and priorities.

I think it was my mom reading us fairy tales when I was six or so. She didn't even like fairy tales; she just read them because I liked them. I owe you one, Mom.
