Power's still on for now -- several flickers, but it keeps fighting to stay on! Hang in there, power!! 

One of the neighborhood cats is camped in our garage. He's been here all day and his family couldn't be bothered to come get him when we called them. I swear, some people . . . He's too wild a cat for us to let him in the house, much as we wanted to; he seems to like us a lot, but still can be very moody and has to be handled with care. So we spread towels and blankets over almost every flat surface, and he picked one to sleep on. Hopefully he'll be warm enough.

I'm off to sleep in the guest room, so as to avoid any possibility of a large tree landing on top of me in the night. Stay safe and warm, everyone. And thanks for all the prayers and good wishes!

We still have power, too, which is a huge relief. Things could have been worse - the flooding, here in Westchester, doesn't seem as bad as it was with Irene or our previous hurricane, but the winds were awful! Dying down now, but we're still getting some sharp gusts. Hope you're still all right.
