I will, for sure. I'm even skipping RiffTrax Live, which I hate doing. I don't for one second think it'll measure up to the movie -- but then, they're trying to do something very different from the movie. And I won't say I'm not planning to snark a bit. In fact, it might take me three or four viewings to snark with all the online friends who want to snark with me. :-) But I'm sure there'll be plenty to enjoy as well!

Umm, no, thanks. Not only do I not have even network TV, but I'm not fond of the idea of Underwood oversinging "The Lonely Goatherd" (oh, gods the yodeling!) and butchering the enunciation in "Do Re Mi." Normally, I don't mind her, but this is going to be a train wreck for every classically trained musician or die-hard Julie Andrews fan. >:(

I don't know that it should be bad for classically trained musicians. Carrie Underwood is technically a better singer than Julie Andrews, and I'd say that after opera, country vocal music is the most technically demanding genre.

Which is not to say I'm not slightly skeptical of Underwood as Maria . . . I'm going to reserve judgement until I actually see it.

Actually, from those who've bought the soundtrack that was already made, I hear the yodeling is one of the best things she does on it. That country background, I guess!

I hadn't heard anything about this - but it's interesting, because my sister just showed me clips from the original (German language) "Story of the Trapp Family singers", which cleaves much more closely to the actual story, characters, and music. So I wonder what they'll be doing that will be different from the Julie Andrews movie.

They're (mostly) sticking with the format of the original "Sound of Music" stage show. That means "My Favorite Things" at the convent, no "I Have Confidence," "The Lonely Goatherd" with the children in Maria's room, only one rendition of "Edelweiss," a duet for Max and Elsa, and a trio for Max, Elsa, and the Captain. However, they are using "Something Good" from the movie instead of "An Ordinary Couple" from the stage show.
