Mom's home! No one thought she would be home so soon after surgery on Monday, but they reckoned without the force of nature that is my mother. Number one, she's incredibly healthy (must be all the vitamins), and number two, she hates being in the hospital. I mean HATES. I mean HAAAAAAAAAAAATES. I think if they hadn't released her today, she would have tunneled her way out with a spoon.

So she's home with her heart valve all fixed, and doing very well, though of course very tired. Thanks again for all your prayers and good wishes! They really helped!

She is SO ME! I bet if you took my blood pressure the second I walk into any hospital or clinic, it would be sky high. I cannot STAND being anywhere in or even near a hospital. My stomach starts feeling sick, my heart starts pounding, my hands go cold and/or sweaty, my throat goes dry, and I can barely think or function like a normal human being. So I totally sympathize with her!

Anyway, glad things went well!

Thanks!

Her blood pressure WAS sky high right before surgery. 150 over something. Usually she has low blood pressure (pretty much everyone in our family does), so for her it was especially high!

I'm so glad to hear it went well! Hope she gets lots of rest at home and gets back on her feet on no time!

I am the same way as your mom and [livejournal.com profile] mosinging1986, just one whiff of that sickly hospital bleach smell is enough to turn me into a rabid ball of panic. When I had to stay in the hospital after I got my tonsils out it was only my IV and the various bribes of my parents that kept me from fleeing, hospital gown and all.

Right? Though I always get woozy when I see people on TV just rip out their IVs in a bid to escape. IVs freaking HURT!

I always feel woozy too! And those things can do some real damage if you just rip them out! It was that consideration that kept me from making a break for it TV style.

Who says TV can't be educational? :)

I'm very glad to hear that everything's fine. *hugs* And I agree with your mother, hospitals are no fun - I hope she has a fast recovery now that she's home and comfortable.

Oh, I'm so happy about this.

I have this visual of your mom just getting up, dressing, and starting to check herself out. Eventually the staff catches on. She sounds like a force to be reckoned with. ;)
