10. What author do you own the most books by and why?

I think it must be L. M. Montgomery: I have 36 of her books (including five volumes of her journals). Why? Because I couldn't find 37. :-) She's just a wonderful writer and I've bought everything of hers that I could find.

11. Do you own multiple copies of any book? What are they? Why do you have multiple copies?

I have multiple copies of a few different books. Probably the most copies of the Bible: I have the one I use for daily devotions and Bible study, and a couple of little travel Bibles to take on trips, and I think that the Living Bible my parents gave me when I was eight and one or two of the Bibles I had for school are still around here somewhere. (Different schools required different versions: RSV, KJV, etc. Personally, I prefer the New King James.)

12. Book borrowing – do you use the library? Do you prefer to try before you buy? What about lending your books to friends? Are you a good borrower, do you remember to return books?

Yes; sometimes; occasionally; usually. When I was a kid I wasn't a very good borrower; I'd forget to return them, or carry them around in my backpack and let the covers get bent. Then I would feel horribly guilty. So I've tried hard to become a more careful borrower -- when I do borrow books, which isn't often.

I'm talking about personal borrowing. As far as the library goes . . . for some reason I'm usually a couple of days late with the returns!

Is is even possible to have 36 Dickens books (when you don't have duplicates I mean)?

I'm not quite sure. Let's see: There are 16 novels (if you lump "A Christmas Carol" in with the novels). There's "Sketches by Boz," "Pictures from Italy," and "The Life of Our Lord." Then I have two volumes of his collected works called "Selected Journalism 1850-1870" and "Selected Short Fiction." And two books of quotes, and two short books of essays ("Charles Dickens on Travel" and "Charles Dickens on London"). I don't yet have "American Notes" or "The Uncommercial Traveller," but if I did, that would still only put me at 27.

But if there are more volumes of collected essays and stories -- and letters, too -- out there, and there probably are, I think there just *might* be enough to reach 36! :-)
