I have about a zillion things to do . . . so of course I'm doing a meme. (In my own defense, I am overdue on this one; I got it from
sonneta nearly two weeks ago!)
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload) 5 songs you love that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.
sonneta gave me "B." This was HARD -- there are so many good songs that begin with B!
"Before the Parade Passes By," Michael Crawford
No video available, but you can hear it here. You may have to turn it way up at the beginning.
"Breakfast Table," Chris Rice
"Burn," Chris Young
"Big Blue Note," Toby Keith
"Be Thou My Vision" -- the version I have on my iPod (by this singer, who goes to my church) doesn't seem to be online. But I found this really nice version by Michael Ball.
(If I had a runner-up, I think it might be Frank Sinatra's "Blues in the Night" -- which doesn't seem to be on YouTube anyway. Sacrilege!! Also "Bring Him Home" . . . and I guess I'd better stop now.)
If you want a letter, let me know!

Date: 2011-06-10 09:18 pm (UTC)I've been meaning to contact you anyway -- you're running "Costume Chronicles," right? I know there was talk about a Dickens issue at some point; wanted to find out if it was still in the works!

Date: 2011-06-11 08:37 pm (UTC)I think this could work out really well for the Dickensbloggers, because we've been brainstorming on a really good way to celebrate the bicentennial. We discussed self-publishing a book of our collected essays on Dickens, and donating the proceeds to a charity he would have liked, but as I've recently found out, self-publishing can be a royal pain in the neck, and there aren't that many proceeds. Maybe contributing essays to CC would be a much better idea!

Date: 2011-06-12 12:58 am (UTC)I have a Create Space account already with Amazon, so we could use that for a book. And I'd heard good things about Lulu too. But it's still a lot of work, either way. So I'll throw the magazine idea out there and see what they think of it!
