I signed on for this ages ago -- sorry for the delay,
sylverwind!
The meme:
1. Reply to this post with some kind of a yes, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
(I think I did this one long ago, but I decided to do it again!)
sylverwind chose these five of mine.

These two are both from Mystery Science Theater 3000. The first is from Time Chasers, one of my favorite episodes. Plus, I just like plaid. :-) The second is from Werewolf, my VERY favorite episode (it's a reference to the leading lady's butchery of the English language), and it warms my little editor's heart.
thesugarmonster made the first;
valsquared made the second.

queensjoy. I've had more compliments on this icon than any other -- there are more Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane fans out there than I realized! The lyric sums up their relationship rather nicely, I think.

puipui. Based on this classic blog post, which also warms my little editor's heart!

digne. Long ago, before Mad Men was even a gleam in a TV executive's eye, AMC had a delightful little series about life at a Pittsburgh radio station in the late '30s and early '40s, Remember WENN. It ran only four seasons, and not many people remember it now, but those of us who loved it will never forget it. This is my favorite couple from the show -- and one of my favorite couples ever -- Betty Roberts and Victor Comstock. A love triangle eventually developed that had another guy trying to win Betty over (one of the many reasons I now hate love triangles), but it was never resolved. In fact, it eventually turned into a love square -- no, more like a hexagon, actually. . . .
Anyway, the show was canceled before any of this romantic tangle could be sorted out, but in my heart of hearts, Betty and Victor have stayed together for always. Honestly, how could you NOT love a man who sweet-talks a woman with a line like "The confluence of the rivers was in fact a misnomer, since in actuality the Monongahela circumvents the Allegheny by some 300-odd feet"?

Date: 2011-10-08 01:49 am (UTC)I'm sorry to say "WENN" isn't easy to find these days. Fans have begged and BEGGED for it to be put on DVD, but no luck. I'll scout around on the Web and see if there's any bootleg copies.
But in the meantime, YouTube has some clips. Here's one from the very first episode, when Betty came on board as a writer.
